Isa Guha apologises to Indian cricket superstar Jasprit Bumrah

00:00Before we get to the cricket, I'm joined by Isha Gu and Ravi Shastri. Good morning to you both.

00:06Isha, there was a comment you made yesterday during your commentary stint that has

00:10drawn a fair bit of attention and I know you'd like to address that straight away.

00:14Yeah, that's right. Yesterday in commentary, I used a word that can be interpreted in a number

00:18of different ways. Firstly, I'd like to apologise for any offence caused. I set myself really high

00:25standards when it comes to empathy and respect of others and if you listen to the full transcript,

00:31I only meant the highest praise for one of India's greatest players and someone that I admire

00:37greatly as well. I'm an advocate for equality and someone who has spent their career thinking

00:44about inclusion and understanding in the game. I'm trying to frame the enormity of his achievements

00:52and I've chosen the wrong word and for that, I am deeply sorry. As someone who is also of

00:59South Asian heritage, I hope people would recognise that there was no other

01:03intention or malice there. I hope that this hasn't overshadowed what has been

01:08a great Test match so far and I look forward to seeing how it progresses.

01:12But yeah, once again, I'm really, really sorry. Brave woman, to do it on live television and

01:19apologise, you know, takes some steel. And you heard it from the horse's mouth.

01:26So, as far as I'm concerned, game over. You know, people are entitled to make mistakes. We're all

01:31human, you know, and in the heat of the moment, like you saw with the Siraj incident with Travis

01:37Head, sometimes when you have the mic in your hand, things can happen. But to own up, put your hand up

01:44and say, I'm sorry, if things have gone out of place, you know, takes courage. She's done it.
