00:00As we look at the transfer portal early on throughout this offseason, we have seen some
00:08big time quarterbacks make a move and some have already signed on with their next program
00:14that includes Tulane's Darian Mensah.
00:16As we shared during the bowl game roundup, he is on his way from the Green Wave now to
00:22Durham to play for Manny Diaz and Duke in year number two.
00:27What a rivalry.
00:28We will see they're on tobacco road now in football.
00:31Manny Diaz and a nine-win Duke team with Darian Mensah, Lacey Guy, against Bill Belichick
00:36in North Carolina.
00:37Yeah, and he played well this year for Tulane.
00:39You know, you go to one game in particular against Kansas State, he stepped up and led
00:43that team.
00:44Got his team to an AAC championship against Army.
00:47He's mobile, can break, contain, and make plays with his legs, so I think it's a really
00:52good fit.
00:53And look at the elevation of Malik Murphy coming from Texas, first year in the scheme
00:56and Duke puts up dynamic numbers and had Duke at the top of the conference for much
01:01of the regular season.
01:03Manny Diaz and that staff have shown that they can cultivate and elevate talent, so
01:07I think it's a good move for Mensah.
01:09We'll see where they go throughout the ACC this year.
01:11What I'm curious is kind of a chicken and egg question of did Malik Murphy leave because
01:17Duke was interested in moving on and they thought they had a good shot at Mensah, who
01:20certainly is sought after kid.
01:23Does Murphy have his thoughts that he could get to a level above the Duke program?
01:28Again, this was a high-level recruit who was at Texas, smartly left due to what that depth
01:33chart looks like, and then they were like, all right, we gotta pivot, they pivoted successfully.
01:39That's what I'm really curious of because raw numbers people would say, boom, upgrade.
01:43Mensah's better than Murphy, but playing against, you know, the competition in the American
01:48versus that of the ACC, I'm not sure that's the case.
01:50Malik Murphy was a highly coveted transfer for Manny Diaz to build around in year number
01:55one in Durham.
01:56Malik Murphy is still going to be a highly coveted transfer in the portal right now.
02:00Darion Mensah, by some, was the top-rated quarterback prospect that entered the transfer
02:05portal.
02:06Devin Dampier, what a sensational year it was for New Mexico.
02:09Threw for more than 2,700 yards, was the only quarterback to throw for more than 2,500.
02:14It also rushed for 1,000 on the ground.
02:17He will try to provide a spark for Utah's offense, Lacey Guy, that struggled through
02:22a good majority of this year.
02:24He now heads to Salt Lake.
02:25Kyle Winningham back, by the way, for year number 21.
02:28That was confirmed this week.
02:29Yeah, I mean, I think it's good for Utah.
02:32I wonder if Dampier is making the right decision.
02:35The reason why I say that is, again, blue-collar type of offense.
02:39They have only thrown 20 touchdowns.
02:41That was with Isaac Wilson, Tam Rising in that lineup.
02:44It's almost like, you know, a blue-collar Pittsburgh type of offense prior to Russell
02:48Wilson getting there.
02:49It is interesting, though.
02:50We'll never know, truly, what that Utah offense could have been, because in that 2022 season,
02:55when they won the Pac-12 and pulled the upset over USC, it was rather high-flying.
03:01Tam Rising was sensational.
03:03Makai Bernard, who took over the reins on the ground, was great at times this year.
03:07Devin Dampier will look to electrify that.
03:10Two big names that we know, Thomas Castellanos, on his way from B.C., will now be the quarterback
03:15more than likely in Tallahassee for Mike Norvell.
03:19Part of the reason that the season went terribly from the very start was a B.C. upset over
03:24FSU in week number one.
03:27And Conor Wigman, Kev, stays in the state of Texas, leaves College Station, will now
03:31be with Willie Fritz in H-Town.
03:33Yeah, so if I hear that Thomas Castellanos is the best mobile quarterback since Cam Newton,
03:38because Gus Malzahn is the offensive coordinator, I'm going to lose my mind.
03:41People have been saying that?
03:42No, remember we did that nonsense with KJ Jefferson, which was obviously ridiculous
03:46and so disrespectful to one of the all-time great college football quarterbacks?
03:49Remember that nonsense with KJ?
03:50Well, KJ was one of the most productive SEC quarterbacks in the land.
03:54Yeah, no, again, that was always putting KJ's name next to Cam Newton's.
03:59Who said he was Cam Newton?
04:00Again, we'll leave it, Gus even said it.
04:03Some people thought Joe Milton was Cam Newton.
04:04It was Milton, much better on the NFL roster.
04:09So I look forward to the annoying Castellanos comments there.
04:12For Houston, that is an awesome roll of the dice on Conor Wigman.
04:15Look, I know people feel like he was terrible for A&M, he was never healthy for Texas A&M,
04:20I love that roll of the dice.
