00:00The government's actions against illegal recruitment and trafficking are still being looked at.

00:05This is what President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. promised in front of the protection of overseas Filipino workers.

00:11The President announced this after he introduced some prominent Filipino and overseas organizations today.

00:19Kenneth Pacientes is the center of the news.

00:23President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. promised that the government's actions will continue

00:28to improve the well-being of OFWs.

00:31That is his priority in the 2024 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas.

00:37According to the Executive Board, the government will continue to cooperate with other countries

00:42to strengthen labor agreements to ensure the protection of OFWs.

00:48We are strengthening our labor agreements with other countries,

00:51conducting aggressive campaigns against illegal recruitment and trafficking,

00:56mobilizing the agarang, kalinga, atsaklolo for overseas Filipino workers that need funds,

01:04keeping our government communication lines open to migrant workers through the One Repatriation Command Center,

01:12and facilitating the safe repatriation of OFWs who are affected by conflicts or calamities.

01:19Although the government is focused on the well-being of OFWs,

01:22the government is unable to implement reforms to create job opportunities here in the Philippines.

01:29Our dream is to one day make overseas work a choice rather than a necessity.

01:36We continue to implement reforms in governance and economic development

01:40to provide our people with opportunities here at home.

01:44Meanwhile, the President introduced 13 overseas individuals and organizations

01:49who have contributed greatly to their professions and communities.

01:54The President praised them for bringing glory to the country.

01:58We continue to prove time and again that whatever the tides of destiny, wherever they carry us,

02:05within or beyond our shores, there is always a compelling story of Filipino grit, passion,

02:13sacrifice, resilience, resourcefulness.

02:17The Filipinos' competence, our work ethic, and genuine care for other people

02:22make us a truly remarkable race.

02:25The Executive Board of the Philippine Government also encouraged Filipinos to be an inspiration

02:29and to represent the awardees and continue to contribute to the progress of their communities.
