00:00A part of Saki Hall Street has reopened after being closed off. A large part of the walkway
00:05has been closed off throughout 2024, which caused mass disruption as pedestrians were
00:10forced to use awkward diversions and could not walk from one side of the street to the
00:14other. Fencing has been removed from the western end of the area between Rose Street and Cambridge
00:19Street, round about Premark and Boots. A large chunk of the street has been closed off while
00:25work undergoes on the Avenues programme, which is scheduled to be completely finished
00:29by the 7th of January 2025. The work is intended to improve the appearance of the street, which
00:35has suffered from a series of major fires and empty units within the past few years.
00:41Contractors are also preparing a new drainage system and planting trees along the main sewage
00:46network. The plotting of these plants is designed to absorb rainwater.
00:51What do you think of the works and how have you found disruptions over recent months?
