Aree protette, Pichetto Fratin: “Patrimonio nazionale e fondamenta per raggiungere obiettivi internazionali”

(Adnkronos) - Gli Stati Generali delle aree protette: “Sono il primo momento dove si va a sommare un enorme patrimonio nazionale, che, partendo dai parchi e dalla storia di questo Paese, dai grandi parchi nazionali, ai parchi regionali alle aree marine protette, sono la base per raggiungere anche obiettivi internazionali, come quello di raggiungere, entro il 2030, il 30% dell'area terrestre e il 30% delle aree marine tutelate. Già in questa fase possiamo dire che abbiamo più di quasi mille aree in questa condizione, siamo a 30 miliardi di metri quadri. Naturalmente, questo ci convince che dobbiamo andare avanti in questa direzione, proprio per aggiungere non solo l'obiettivo numerico stabilito dagli accordi internazionali, ma anche l'obiettivo di tutela e di salute della biodiversità di un Paese come l'Italia”. Lo ha detto il ministro dell’Ambiente e della Sicurezza energetica Gilberto Pichetto Fratin in occasione della conferenza stampa di presentazione degli "Stati generali delle aree protette".

00:30We have an international commitment to reach by 2030 30% of the land area and 30% of the protected marine areas.

00:39Already in this phase we can say that we have more than almost a thousand areas in these conditions,

00:52we are at 30 billion square meters and of course this convinces us that we must move forward in this direction

01:00precisely to reach not only the numerical goal established by the international agreements,

01:07but it is the goal of protection and health of the biodiversity of a country like Italy,

01:14which has everything, from the surface to the inhabitants, to the world heritage,

01:23such as marine biodiversity, because it is in a closed sea like the Mediterranean,

01:29terrestrial biodiversity, two thirds are hills and mountains,

01:35but these hills and mountains have particular characteristics in this long country in the middle of the sea.

01:44We have a variety of species, of fauna and a variety of species of flora that is exceptional compared to the rest of the world.

01:57All this is our wealth, it becomes a wealth of environmental heritage,

02:03it becomes a wealth of cultural heritage, it becomes a wealth of tourist attraction and therefore of economic benefit.

02:12If I may, 30 billion square meters spread over all the regions,

02:16are the United States also an opportunity to make regions talk to each other,

02:20regions that often have parks that are inserted within both territories?

02:26Certainly, also because it becomes, and make them understand the benefit, the opportunity, and not a weight.

02:36Often, when we do the perimeter of the parks, in some cases it is seen as a way to penalize those territories.

02:47In reality, the goal is to make them understand, also to raise awareness that it is a valorization of those territories,

02:56therefore of that heritage, but also of that inhabitant heritage that then exists in this reality.
