Trump appointed Jerome Powell as Federal Reserve Chair in 2018 but frequently clashed with him over interest rates, threatening to fire him multiple times. President Joe Biden reappointed Jerome Powell as Federal Reserve Chair in 2022 for a second term. Trump has argued that the president should have input over interest rate decisions.
