00:00The COVID-19 pandemic had a drastic impact on so many aspects of our lives, and one of
00:07those which saw a downturn was the amount of people using public transport, specifically
00:11buses. Councils around the country have been concerned over the rate of bus ridership and
00:16Cardiff Council are looking to do something about it and get people back on board. Bus
00:21use in the city is down by an estimated 10-20% since before the pandemic, so councillors
00:26are asking the public for their thoughts on what changes they would like to see. The
00:31public consultation is ongoing and will last until the end of January, and everyone who
00:35lives in or travels into Cardiff have been encouraged to take part. One of the key elements
00:41of the new plans will be six bus corridors, which the council want to enhance in various
00:46ways, including routes to Newport, the Heath Hospital, and run the Cynon Tower from Caerphilly.
00:51The council say they want to improve bus travel to help with congestion, air pollution and
00:55making the city a better place to live and visit.
