00:11In a statement, AirAsia confirmed that Flight AK-5741 returned to Tawau International Airport
00:18due to a technical alert related to one of its engines.
00:22The airline said the flight crew, following strict safety and operational protocols, opted
00:28for a precautionary turn-back to ensure the safety of all on board.
00:32It added that the aircraft landed safely, with all 177 guests and crew disembarking
00:38without incident.
00:39AirAsia said subsequent engineering inspections identified the cause of the alert as a bird
00:44strike impacting the engine.
00:46The affected aircraft was thoroughly inspected, repaired and returned to normal operations.
00:52AirAsia said a replacement flight departed Tawau at 9.58pm the same evening.
