UK: 75 firefighters battle blaze as smoke engulfs town - cancelling Christmas market

Seventy-five firefighters are battling a blaze that broke out at an apartment building on Main Street, Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria, early Sunday.

Emergency crews were called at 5:45am, and by 9:45am, thick smoke continued to rise from the scene.

No injuries have been reported, but residents have been evacuated and reception centres established.

Main Street remains closed, and today's Christmas market has been cancelled. Authorities urge locals to avoid the area and keep windows closed.
