00:00Vaping is an increasing problem among young people. Recent studies from Public Health
00:07Wales with the School Health Research Network found that as many as one in six Year 11 pupils
00:12vape regularly. It also found that almost half of Year 11 pupils, aged between 15 and
00:1816, have tried vaping at least once in the past. With the recent findings, Public Health
00:23Wales have published a guide for parents and family members on how to best approach the
00:27subject of vaping with their children. It offers advice on how to spot the signs of
00:32vaping as well as the best way to speak to young people about it. With most vapes containing
00:37nicotine there is an increased concern that many young people will face nicotine dependency
00:42which can have an effect on concentration and learning. Withdrawal signs can cause sleep
00:47loss, headaches and irritability. The advice tells parents to approach the subject calmly
00:52and positively and not to react sharply if you find vape pens in a child's bedroom.
