00:07Bainun Ardrazali to postpone the execution of her 12-year prison sentence.
00:12The court made the decision after Siti Bainun's lawyer informed the court that the defense
00:17intended to withdraw the application on the sentence over her conviction of neglecting
00:22and abusing Bella, a girl with Down syndrome, three years ago.
00:26The lawyer said with the withdrawal of the application, they will focus on the appeal
00:31at the Court of Appeal.
00:33The date for the appeal to set aside the conviction and sentence at the Court of Appeal has not
00:38yet been set.
00:40In May last year, the High Court upheld the Sessions Court's conviction against Siti
00:45Bainun.
00:46Siti Bainun was charged with causing the victim to suffer physical and emotional injuries
00:52in a condominium unit in Wangsa Maju between February and June in 2021.
00:59The charges framed under the CHILD Act carries a maximum penalty of 20 years' imprisonment
01:05or a 50,000 ringgit fine or both.
