00:00An anti-GRAF group has criticized the Attorney General's chambers over the discharge given
00:06to former Prime Minister Najib Razak and ex-Treasury Secretary General Irwan Sarigar Abdullah in
00:12their International Petroleum Investment Company case.
00:15The Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism said the failure to deliver 200 sets of documents
00:20to the defence raised serious questions about the AGC's ability to perform its duties.
00:25The E4 urged the AGC to explain the failure to declassify and deliver the documents under
00:30the Official Secrets Act despite having six years to do so.
00:34It also urged the government to amend the OSA to remove the arbitrary power to classify
00:39documents as official secrets, which is currently granted to any minister, chief minister or
00:44public officer.
00:45The Kuala Lumpur High Court granted Najib and Irwan a discharge not amounting to an
00:49acquittal after the prosecution failed to supply key documents to the defence.
00:54The prosecution said some documents had been handed to the defence, but others could not
00:58be supplied as they were under the OSA.
