00:06to facilitate the transportation of our countrymen.

00:10This is Isaiah Mirafuentes of PTV in Balitang Pambansa.

00:16Privatization.

00:17This is the target of the Department of Transportation

00:20in the country's transport system.

00:23According to Secretary Jaime Bautista,

00:25this will help improve the transportation situation in the Philippines.

00:31When I joined the Transportation Department,

00:37I told my colleagues that my status in the transport sector is not acceptable.

00:46Because we have problems in the airport,

00:49we have problems in the seaport,

00:51we have problems with buses, jeepneys.

00:56Ninoy Aquino International Airport was the first to be privatized.

01:00And the main airport in Cagayan de Oro, Mesamis Oriental.

01:04The plan of privatization of Bohol Panglao International Airport,

01:11Iloilo Airport, and Puerto Princesa Airport is also on the line.

01:15Other transport systems, such as trains and buses, are also on the line.

01:21Aside from the airport, the next thing we are looking at to be privatized

01:25is the operations of the LMRT-3.

01:28We are also looking at the busway.

01:30We are also studying the possibility of OZO.

01:34But to clarify,

01:36not all, but many.

01:39Bautista explained that the government's budget is not enough

01:43to improve the system of transportation in the country.

01:47He said that private companies have a big role to play

01:50because of the scope of their capabilities.

01:53The DOTR also said that privatization is not the reason

01:57for the increase of passengers.

01:59The LRT-1 Cavite Extension successfully opened Phase 1.

02:07This is the first railway project

02:10that was completed under the administration of President Bongbong Marcos Jr.

02:15Our goal is to finish the major infrastructure projects

02:23or flagship infrastructure projects.

02:26We have a lot of Minas from the previous government.

02:31The proper and fast transport system will help the people.
