El Chapo’s son arrested in Mexico

Violence has erupted in Mexico following the arrest of El Chapo’s 32-year-old son, Ovidio Guzmán.

00:00El Chapo's son, Ovidio Guzman, was arrested in Mexico and it's led to a wave of violence.

00:05Since the Mexican military captured him on December 5th, 19 suspected gang members and

00:1010 military personnel have been killed in the violence.

00:14There have also been videos and reports of roadblocks, vehicles on fire, and guns being

00:18fired at planes at the airport.

00:24Amid the retaliation, the Mexican Air Force transported Guzman from Culiacan to Mexico

00:29City where he is being held in a maximum security federal prison.

00:34Guzman is considered a high-ranking member of the Sinaloa Cartel, according to the U.S.

00:38State Department.

00:39He was briefly arrested back in 2019, which also led to violence, and ended with orders

00:43from the president to have him released in order to stop the bloodshed.

00:47His dad, Joaquin El Chapo Guzman, is currently serving life in prison in the U.S.
