“The Last of Us” had a record-breaking premiere

HBO’s  “The Last of Us” drew in record-breaking audience numbers for its premiere.

00:00It appears that HBO may have another hit series on its hands. The Last of Us premiered on Sunday,

00:04January 15th, drawing in the second biggest debut for an HBO show within the last 13 years. 4.7

00:10million US viewers tuned into the television adaptation of the hit PlayStation game. The only

00:15series premiere that tops that is House of the Dragon, which launched last year to nearly 10

00:19million viewers. However, The Last of Us beats out the premiere of other popular HBO shows such as

00:24Game of Thrones, Secession, Euphoria, and The White Lotus. HBO notes that Sunday night viewership for

00:29an HBO series typically represents 20-40% of the show's total gross audience per episode, so the
