Elizabeth Holmes sentenced

Elizabeth Holmes has been sentenced to 135 months, or over 11 years, in prison after being found guilty on four charges of fraud.

00:04Judge Edward Davila says the reasonable total loss for investors was $121 million.

00:18Holmes was convicted in January on four counts of criminal fraud

00:21for deceiving investors in her failed blood testing startup Theranos.

00:25Holmes faced a maximum sentence of 20 years.

00:27The government called for 15 years in federal prison,

00:29whereas her legal team pushed for no more than 18 months in home confinement,

00:33followed by probation and community service.

00:35More than 100 supporters, including her family, friends, and former colleagues,

00:39wrote letters in support of Holmes to Judge Edward Davila,

00:41asking for leniency in her sentencing.

00:43This marks the conclusion of an over four-year-long legal downfall of Holmes,
