00:00It could be, I don't think it's a coincidence that the Prime Minister's office hasn't translated

00:06this speech.

00:07Because what he wants people abroad to be aware of what he's saying, he's very quick,

00:12his office is at translating it.

00:14In this case, this was a declaration of war directed inside Israel.

00:21So I just want to quote you someone who our audience may know, Avi Sakharov, the creator

00:27of the Fauda television series, tonight wrote, Netanyahu has decided to go to war against

00:35the security forces of the state of Israel.

00:39And tonight what we saw was absolutely a declaration of war, Netanyahu accused mid-war, remember,

00:47you just showed us images of Gaza, of Lebanon, Israel is facing multi-front wars ongoing.

00:53And the Prime Minister in this video statement said that he and the state have been betrayed

01:01by the heads of the army and by the heads of the Shin Bet, Israel's national security

01:06service.

01:07He said that, going into some detail, that he was not given documents and information

01:15that he as Prime Minister should have been given, and said that these agencies have taken

01:22one of his former employees, a guy called Eli Feldstein, hostage.

01:28And it was the only mention of hostage, the word hostage, in his entire speech, whereas

01:33as we all know, Israel has 110 hostages rotting to death in Gaza still now, 14 months into

01:42this war.

01:43And a terrible video, apparently, of one of them was released tonight.

01:47There was no mention of any of that or of the pain of the population at all.

01:53What we have seen since he posted this speech is also extraordinary.

01:58So the former head of the Shin Bet, Yoram Cohen, a Shin Bet director appointed by Netanyahu,

02:08went on television live and accused the Prime Minister of mishandling the job of running

02:16the state.

02:18He said that these were an aberrant series of accusations from the Prime Minister.

02:24What we're seeing tonight in Israel is a civil war so far in words.

02:30The Prime Minister does not have his own private militia, but we are seeing open warfare mid-war

02:38between the government and the security agencies of the state.

02:42The walls all closing in around Netanyahu and Nogha, you touched on the hostage situation

02:48right now.

02:49We have had another hostage march for the families of those hostages in which they said

02:53it's Netanyahu versus the people.

02:55That was one of the banners that could be seen there.

02:58These hostage marches have taken place every Saturday since the start of October 7th.

03:03Now we have news, the Hamas armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigade is saying that

03:12another hostage has been killed.

03:16Do we have anything more on that?

03:19We don't, but we already have experience with this sort of statement.

03:23So what Hamas did earlier was release a not very clear video, but a hard video to see,

03:31which has not been released in Israel.

03:33And it shows what appears to be the dead body of a woman, badly bruised, and then wrapped

03:40in a kind of death shroud with bloodied parts.

03:45And in the statement that Hamas released, they said that another hostage, another Israeli

03:51hostage who had been held with the dead hostage, they didn't name either of them, that her

03:58life was in danger.

03:59Now we have to be very, very careful with all of these kind of statements for several

04:04reasons.

04:05The main one is we already have experience with Hamas allowing some of these Israeli

04:12hostages to survive for 11 months, it was at the time, on October the 30th, and then

04:18murdering them, executing them in cold blood when they feel that Israeli armies, soldiers

04:23might be getting too close.

04:25We may be seeing a situation like that.

04:28We may be seeing a moment of a kind of psychological terror by Hamas.

04:34Or it could be a situation in which an Israeli bombardment harmed these hostages.

04:40We don't know.

04:41But let's come back to our first topic, because this is related.

04:45One of the reasons for Netanyahu's huge stress and for this really astonishing rant tonight

04:53is that what his top aide, Elie Feldstein, is accused of doing is of assisting Netanyahu

05:01in disseminating misinformation based on stolen top-secret documents aimed at scuttling possible

05:11deals to release these hostages.

05:14And so when we see Netanyahu scrambling like this, or almost panicking, as he has been

05:20described tonight, we are seeing someone who is responding to accusations that verge on

05:27treason during wartime and acting against the basic interests of his citizens.
