00:00Looking at West Bromwich Albion, we spoke a lot about their form at the start of the
00:07season was fantastic, then they sort of dropped off and struggled to find wins around October,
00:13November time. Looking at their aims now for the season, obviously we have highlighted
00:19how important the top six is. Is that where they should be expecting it and how far do
00:25the fans have to look into the future to see things turning around for them?
00:29I think it's all about being patient in the championship, especially as a West Brom fan.
00:34It's probably quite harsh to say that because they have been incredibly patient. But I think
00:38my point is more that they need to keep that patience going because it's an incredibly
00:42competitive division. And even when they haven't been winning games, they've been pretty solid
00:46defensively, not scoring many goals. The clean sheets have been there, not many defeats whatsoever
00:52this season. And they have been competitive in every match. It's just sometimes not quite
00:56fun in the back of the net as often as they should do, not getting enough shots on target.
01:01But as you say, top six, I think is definitely realistic, even with how competitive it has
01:05been. Towards the top of the standings, it's bound to be more like the likes of Sunderland
01:10and Sheffield United, Leeds United, Burnley as well. And it's very, very difficult to
01:17get into those automatic promotion spots. Top six, I think definitely more realistic
01:21for Carlos Corbijn and his men. The squad is strong and they have got depth in a variety
01:26of positions. There's competition. Josh Major has been firing up top. Daryl Dike eventually
01:31will come back into the fold. Carlon Grant looks like a new player. And of course, Mikey
01:35Johnson as well, signed in the summer. He's bound to have an impact. Tom Fellowes, a great
01:39young player out on the wing. There are so many positives. It's just all about that patience,
01:43as I mentioned.
01:44Just touch on the standout players for them so far this season and just the importance
01:50of Carlos Corbijn to bring them all together as well. You know, we mentioned how he was
01:55looked at by a number of clubs in the summer to try and get his name. But he seems to really
02:00be enjoying his time at the Albion.
02:02Absolutely. The connection with the fan base at the Hawthorns is really strong, even if
02:06the performances and there haven't been many goals on home soil this season, which has
02:10been frustrating. There's without doubt that connection between the manager and the fans
02:14as well. In terms of standout players, Major getting in the goals is so important. Having
02:20a striker that can find the back of the net last season, that was the struggle. They're
02:23relying on goals from other positions. Jed Wallace having to play up front at times as
02:28well because of all the injuries. So it's great to have a proper number nine. Alex Palmer
02:32as well between the sticks. It's great to have a goalkeeper that you can trust and lead
02:36from the back. You've got to have a good base in the side and having a strong goalkeeper
02:40provides exactly that. He was the Golden Glove winner last season for a reason, and he looks
02:45set to maybe do that again this campaign. So he's been really strong.
02:49And then Darnold Furlong, another example of an experienced player who's been solid
02:53week in, week out. Alex Mowat as well in midfield. A little bit inconsistent at times, but another
02:58very strong player for the Albion.
