00:00A mother's last effort was to try and save her son before they were hit by a train along
00:06the Petagas Railway tracks in Petagas Sabah on Tuesday.
00:10According to witnesses, the 41-year-old woman is believed to have pushed her son away from
00:14her in an attempt to get him to safety moments before she was crushed under the train.
00:19Putatan Fire and Rescue Department said that Lina Gaben died on the spot while her 11-year-old
00:24son lost a foot and sustained severe arm and head injuries.
00:28It is believed the mother and son were crossing the railway tracks as the train approached
00:33and could not get across in time.
00:35They had just come from the son's school and were walking home passing through the railway
00:39tracks.
00:40The woman was dragged some 20 metres from where she was hit, while her son was found
00:44sitting up crying in pain some distance away.
00:46Investigations are ongoing for the incident.
