00:13Dayim often spoke about how the nation's strength lay in diversity, unity, hard work and an
00:19unshakable belief that Malaysians could achieve greatness together. His family also said Dayim
00:26had a strong belief in the country's youth and that he was confident that they would be able to
00:30overcome challenges without letting cynicism or bitterness take root. Dayim died on November 13th
00:37at the age of 86. He served as finance minister twice under Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad
00:43from 1984 to 1991 and from 1999 to 2001. Earlier this year, Dayim and his wife Naima Khalid
00:52claimed trial in court to charges of failing to comply with the terms of a notice from the
00:57Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission regarding asset declaration.
