00:00To celebrate its 108th anniversary, the Girl Guides Association Malaysia, GGAM, has launched

00:12a fundraising initiative called Girl Guides Cookies to support community programs and

00:17empower young women.

00:19At the launch in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, GGAM Chief Commissioner Datuk Yosu Keng emphasized

00:26that the initiative aims to promote leadership, teamwork and service, aligning with the Sustainable

00:31Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 for Quality Education, Goal 12 for Responsible

00:37Consumption and Production, and Goal 17 for Partnership for Goals.

00:43GGAM President Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Aziza Wan Ismail, who officiated the event, expressed

00:50gratitude to supporters, stating that funds raised would contribute to the holistic development

00:55of young women through GGAM's programs.

00:59The Girl Guides Association of Malaysia has been in existence for 108 years.

01:06This year, we have seen many successes and faced many challenges throughout our journey.

01:15Our greatest achievement is the cultivation of generations of girls and women, filled

01:22with discipline and leadership qualities.

01:25We have also ensured that importance is placed upon the character building of our Girl Guides

01:32with emphasis on spiritual, physical and mental building.

01:38She highlighted that members are equipped with practical skills, such as first aid,

01:43and are encouraged to become responsible and courageous in overcoming life's challenges.

01:49Although the way of life in Malaysia is very different, the existence of GGAM for 108 years

01:59is proof that GGAM remains relevant and is able to adapt to the changing times.

02:08Dr. Wan Aziza also addressed the unique challenges today's youth face, particularly in navigating

02:15the digital landscape, urging GGAM leaders to guide members in avoiding harmful online

02:21behaviours like cyberbullying, scams and harassment.

02:25As part of the campaign, nearly 20,000 tins of cookies have already been donated to over

02:31120 children's and elderly homes.

02:34Also present during the launch were China Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing, Youths

02:39and Sports Minister Hana Yeo, and Julie's Biscuits Director Martin Ang.
