PREVIEW: Will The Rocket be on cloud nine at snooker’s 2024 Victorian Plumbing UK in York?

Snooker’s greatest players are returnimg to the York Barbican for the 2024 Victorian Plumbing UK Championship - one of the sport’s most historic and prestigious events.

The UK Championship is part of snooker’s Triple Crown Series and has been staged every year since 1977. It is televised by BBC, Eurosport and many other broadcasters to a global audience of 500 million.
Last year, Ronnie O’Sullivan won the trophy for a record extending eighth time, beating Ding Junhui 10-7 in the final. e Rocket will aim for a ninth title in a star-studded field, including the likes of Judd Trump, Kyren Wilson, Ding, John Higgins, Mark Allen, Mark Selby, and two players who are new to the top 16: Chris Wakelin and Xiao Guodong.
The top 16 seeds will be joined by the 16 players who come through the qualifying rounds, which run from November 16-21 in Leicester.
World number one Trump could be the man to beat, as he already has two titles under his belt this season. He said: “I get a good buzz being introduced as world number one. It means more when you are competing in the big prestigious events like the UK Championship. For me to have the consistency of constantly winning lots of big ranking events, I know I’m doing something right.”
