00:00And, hey, I give Rory a ton of credit this fall because you see a lot of guys don't even

00:09play.

00:10They don't do anything.

00:11They just play at home and Rory's, you know, he winning on the DP World Tour and winning

00:18his sixth Order of Merit race to Dubai.

00:21That means something to him.

00:22He wants to be the top European player of all time.

00:26So I have to admire his passion for wanting to be the best and working to get to a point

00:34to where, hey, I know we haven't won a major in 10 years, but who's to say that he can't

00:41pick off three or four more if he can't get his swing exactly the way he wants it?

00:45And I mean, it, gosh, I'd love to see it, right?

00:50Like I think we just have so much battle scars as like fans of Rory's.

00:54Yeah.

00:55100 percent.

00:56And I mean, I think it's it's Rory.

01:00He goes about things in a very it's he's very rarely like half and it's like he's all in

01:04on a certain direction.

01:05It feels like, you know, whatever that direction is and he'll let you know about it.

01:09And so on the topic of where Rory's playing another Dylan to share a story on golf dot

01:14com looking at his upcoming schedule this year, he's we went from a whole overhaul and

01:20a whole new schedule this year set up to play more before majors playing events he hadn't

01:24played in the past to kind of gear up for these majors to completely going back in a

01:28different direction and cutting way down on events.

01:31So no century this year that's smart.

01:34It's smart.

01:35He he played too much like he he played Valera before the Masters, just trying to like find

01:40a way to get in rhythm before the Masters.

01:43But it just seemed like he had played much because remember, he plays like overseas at

01:47the beginning of the year to correct.

01:49So so that's so and that's why he usually skips a century every year is because he's

01:53still overseas playing on the DP World Tour.

01:56He's not going to play the cognizant this year like he played last year or the Valero

02:00Texas Open or a signature event in the RBC Heritage.

02:04The one that popped for me the most was he's probably not going to play the first round

02:07of the playoffs.

02:08He said this to James Corrigan of the Telegraph, I'll probably not play the first playoff event

02:12in Memphis.

02:13I mean, I finished basically dead last year this this year and only moved down one spot

02:17in the playoffs.

02:18And that's if he was like, this is why this is why the playoffs having Rory McIlroy say

02:26that there has to be alarms going off at PGA Tour headquarters saying we have to change

02:33our playoff structure, not next year, now like we can't afford to have Rory McIlroy

02:39saying this because we can't have our number one sponsor seeing Rory McIlroy say that and

02:47you know what?

02:48I can skip this week.

02:49I'll see if the BMW that to me was such an alarming statement and one that we've been

02:56calling for.

02:57We need a restructured playoff system.

03:00I think that there are a lot of different ways that the statements being read among

03:06them and people saying this is Rory kind of being fed up with being trotted out by the

03:11PGA Tour being used a number of different ways, sort of a poster boy.

03:14And then, you know, things not going the way he wants them to go, which I think is

03:17an interesting viewpoint.

03:19But that to me is a huge, huge alarm.

03:22As you said, in terms of like, if we're going to have guys who are now skipping, we have

03:26a 70 player field to have this whole thing structured.

03:29And one guy's gonna say, ah, I'm good on that elevated purse.

03:33I don't really need to.

03:34I'll just see, you know, wherever the BMW is not good.

03:37That's not good.

03:38So we think Memphis should be in the spring anyways.

03:41It's too hot in August to have to have that event.

03:44And I don't see the huge difference in FedEx.

03:47Like I know they want to have be a part of the last couple events, but really when it

03:54comes down to it, like in August, I mean, people were out playing golf.

03:57Like I think in the springtime, it's probably just as advantageous to be a standalone signature

04:03event and you probably have just as good as ratings and get just as good a turnout from

04:08probably get a much better turnout, honestly, in Memphis than you would then, then you went

04:12in August.
