00:00The Marcos administration truly wants to set itself apart because rather than just go primarily

00:06after the small-time drug peddlers, the present government wants to stop the supply dead on its

00:13tracks by going after the drug cartels. This was what the president underscored during a meeting

00:20with all the law enforcement agencies tasked to rid the country of this societal menace.

00:27PTV's Kenneth Paciente has the details.

00:32President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. aims to intensify the government's fight against

00:37illegal drugs in the country. That is what the chief executive discussed in a meeting

00:41with the Department of Justice, Department of the Interior and local government,

00:44Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and Philippine National Police.

00:48According to DILG Secretary John V. Cremulia, while they will continue to address the use

00:52of illegal drugs, the president wants to strengthen the suppression of the supply

00:56side of prohibited drugs. This will be done by cracking down on drug cartels.

01:01Chasing after the big guns, the big suppliers, the main men involved in the importation of drugs.

01:09The personalities have been identified. I am not at liberty to discuss it.

01:14One of the focus areas now is the new believed prisons in Muntinlupa City,

01:18which is allegedly a primary source of illegal drugs.

01:21Cremulia asserted about 200 high-value personnel have been identified inside the prison

01:26and are under investigation. These individuals are now more high-tech as they are using

01:30cryptocurrency. The DILG chief plans to transfer them to high maximum security facility to cut

01:36off their connection to the spread of illegal drugs. It's safe to say it will be the most

01:40secure facility yet built and their communication lines will be totally cut.

01:46But why does the circulation of drugs still persist inside the penal farm?

01:50The problem is systemic inside Muntinlupa. So they're trying a new approach.

01:56Whatever they do, they will be swiped after two weeks. Everyone will have a phone again.

02:03So evidently there's something wrong within the system. And changing personnel is not the answer.

02:09You have to change the location, change their availability, change their accessibility

02:14for the communication to the outside world is curtailed.

02:19So that's what they're doing.

02:20The president is also focused on the point of entry of illegal drugs,

02:24including the Manila International Container Port, among others.

02:27The government will strengthen cooperation with foreign anti-drug entities,

02:31such as the U.S. DEA, to prevent the entry of drugs into the country.

02:35Meanwhile, Cremulia confirmed the deportation of retired police colonel Rajie Magarma after she

02:40went to the United States, where airport authorities discovered that her visa and

02:44that of her daughter were cancelled. The Philippine Bureau of Immigration

02:47and the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service made arrangement for Garma's return to

02:52the country. We don't even know why Garma's visa was cancelled. Apparently, the U.S. flagged her

02:58and they cancelled their visas. They didn't even let her daughter in. They sent her home.

03:07As far as I know, they're just on their way home.

03:11When will they arrive, sir?

03:12Uh, I think tomorrow.

03:18Garma will be taken to the Senate detention facility upon her arrival as she is a state
