00:00Am I the a**hole for not paying my boyfriend back after he didn't get me the right birthday cake?

00:07Welcome! This is Cheeseburger with Internet Storytime,

00:10where we dig deep into the depths of Reddit to find some crazy stories.

00:13My boyfriend and I have been dating for 10 months, and it was my birthday yesterday.

00:17There's a local bakery that makes a really good-looking pineapple upside-down cake.

00:20I've been really wanting to try it, and I've been saving it for my birthday.

00:23About a month in advance, I told him my birthday was coming up,

00:26and told him that I didn't need a gift, but I really wanted a pineapple upside-down cake from XYZ Bakery.

00:32He said, sure.

00:33I know this was probably annoying, but I did mention the specific cake several times, even before last month.

00:39Like, we would drive by the bakery, and I'd say something like,

00:42oh, hey, that's the place with the pineapple cake. I want to do that for my birthday.

00:45And then a week before my birthday, I texted him a reminder about the cake,

00:49so that he would have the bakery info on hand.

00:52Yesterday rolls around, and my boyfriend comes over to my apartment and gives me a gift, which is a Kindle.

00:56Not a bad gift. They're expensive, but not something particularly relevant to me, either.

01:01Then he said-

01:02Can we pause for a second?

01:04Kindles are irrelevant to reading.

01:06Then he says, let's have cake, and presents what you all know by now is not the pineapple upside-down cake,

01:13but just a regular grocery store cake with the frosting balloons.

01:16I was on the verge of tears because of not getting the one thing I actually wanted, which was that stupid cake.

01:21So I told him I was very disappointed, and that he should just go home.

01:25That does feel a little dramatic.

01:28He had two tickets to a comedy show for that night, and one ended up going to waste.

01:32Now he's annoyed because it is, of course, just a cake,

01:35and wants me to reimburse the cost of the wasted ticket, which was supposed to be a present.

01:40That's horrible.

01:41He sent me a Venmo request for $30. Am I an a**hole if I don't pay?

01:55All the comments were very pro-her.

01:58They were like, that guy's stupid, you literally spelled it out for him, and he dropped the ball on a cake.

02:27I love that he heard her explain what he did wrong, and then he was like,

02:33Instead of actually just getting the right cake.

03:11I'm going to get her the best gift she's ever gotten.

03:15She's going to realize that I know her better than she knows herself.

03:17The Venmo requesting for the comedy show she missed out on, that pushes it over the edge.

03:23She asked if she's f***ed for not Venmoing him back, and I'm like, there's no way.

03:28Maybe leaving the birthday was a little dramatic, but we're not asking, am I the dramatic diva?
