Hello again. Wednesday was another fairly grey day, at least for most of us, and Thursday
00:06
promises again pretty cloudy skies, but maybe not quite so misty. High pressure continues
00:11
to dominate, actually sitting well to the east of us, but another centre of the high
00:15
pressure is building just to the east, generating the winds coming up from the south. Quite
00:20
a noticeable breeze around some western coasts, and that southerly breeze is also bringing
00:26
in the cloud and the reasonably mild air. A bit of drizzle here and there across parts
00:30
of the south, particularly over hills and parts of Scotland. Again, over high ground
00:34
maybe seeing a little bit of drizzly rain, but northern Scotland has seen some sunshine
00:38
through Wednesday and will continue to see some decent clear spells overnight. Temperatures
00:43
are going to hold up. It's generally pretty mild air, and with the blanket of cloud keeping
00:47
the temperatures high as well, we won't start Thursday any lower than about 8 or 9 Celsius
00:53
in towns and cities. Some rural spots may be a little lower, but many will start in
00:57
double figures. So, a pretty warm start to Thursday, a pretty grey start to Thursday.
01:03
Again, some drizzle here and there, especially over hills, moors of the southwest, hills
01:08
and mountains of Wales, but most places will be just dry and fairly drab. We are, I think,
01:14
going to see not quite so much in the way of mist. Visibility should be a little bit
01:18
better during Thursday. Still some hill fog where the cloud is sitting over the higher
01:23
routes, but equally to the north and west of high ground, we should again see some breaks
01:28
in the cloud. So, northern Scotland, again, instead of grey skies here, we should see
01:33
some decent spells of sunshine. Still quite breezy across the northwest in particular.
01:37
That breeze helping actually to both break the cloud up, but also bring some higher temperatures
01:43
and parts of northern Scotland could easily get to 16, maybe 17 or even 18 degrees Celsius.
01:49
Elsewhere, temperatures close to the average for the time of year, a little milder in the
01:53
west, 14, 15 degrees possible here, whereas many central and eastern parts 10, 11 or 12
01:59
Celsius. So, close to average, but we will see above average temperatures in the west
02:03
and particularly above average across northern Scotland with those southerly winds and something
02:08
called the fern effect. For more on that, you can catch Aiden's Deep Dive. That's available
02:15
on our YouTube channel from Tuesday. As we go through Thursday evening, we'll keep the
02:20
clearest skies across northern Scotland. We'll keep the thick cloud for most places, but
02:25
most places will also stay dry to some light rain and drizzle here and there over the hill.
02:30
So, not a great deal of change as we go into Friday. In fact, again, northern Scotland
02:33
favoured for some bright or sunny skies. Maybe a few more breaks in the cloud again, north
02:38
and west Wales, but also maybe over parts of northern England, southern Scotland, we
02:42
could see a bit more sunshine. Again, quite thick cloud across the south with some drizzle
02:46
here over any hills, but most places will stay dry. Temperatures maybe not quite so
02:51
high on Friday, 10 or 11 degrees Celsius. Again, with some brightness in the west, we
02:56
could see those temperatures getting into the mid-teens and again, maybe a touch higher
03:00
in northern Scotland. Subtle changes as we go through the weekend and into the early
03:05
part of next week, but high pressure remains in control. For more on that, you can catch
03:10
the 10-day trend that's available on YouTube.
