00:00The Department of Information and Communications Technology, or DICT, is advising the public
00:06to be vigilant and not to simply open any text scams that came from an e-wallet company that has a link.
00:16This is what Rod Lagusan wrote.
00:20Have you received such texts that came from an e-wallet that has a link?
00:25According to DICT, you should not click on it.
00:29Because it came from a Rubik's Cube that has an International Mobile Subscriber Identity Catcher, or INSICATCHER.
00:36This is a particular device that was illegally imported to the Philippines.
00:42This is a gadget.
00:45This is like a text blaster on the move.
00:48It projects messages.
00:54And it takes over the signal.
01:00It does not use a SIM card, but it has the ability to scan a number.
01:04It is only connected to a laptop so that it can spread illegal activities.
01:09In the example shown by DICT, it has the ability to detect blackness from an e-wallet.
01:15Explained by DICT Undersecretary Alexander Ramos, they are more active now, especially as Christmas is approaching.
01:22In several cities in Metro Manila, such as Quezon City, Makati, and Manila, this was the first to be detected.
01:27DICT is now looking for it using the predictive tools that can monitor where it is, and can detect it using the agency's sensors.
01:34These links are links to take over your account.
01:39It has the potential to have a keyboard dagger.
01:46It can see if you are pressing a pin, or whatever you are pressing on your phone, it can see that and transmit it.
01:55If there is an alert message and a link, do not click it. Delete it immediately.
02:00Because it is a pecking advisory.
02:04Ramos clarified that he does not send any e-wallet company alert messages with a link.
02:10He is also consulting the companies in DICT and NTC about this.
02:15They are also looking for a solution for this and discussing who might be behind this.
02:19Rod Laguzad for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
