00:06distributed almost 50 million pesos worth of aid

00:09to those affected by Hurricane Christine.

00:15The Bicol Region will rise.

00:17That's what President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

00:20promised in his visit to Camarines Sur

00:22a few weeks after Hurricane Christine hit.

00:25The President assured that the government

00:27will not stop its actions

00:29to bring back to normal conditions

00:31those affected by Hurricane Christine in the region.

00:33He will also provide

00:35a proactive approach

00:37to avoid widespread flooding

00:39and climate change.

00:41He will also provide a directive to the DPWH

00:44to study the changes in the master plan

00:46of the Bicol River Basin Development Project

00:48so that severe flooding in the region will not happen again.

00:51In July this year,

00:53the Department of Public Works and Highways

00:57updated the master plan and feasibility study

01:03of the Bicol River Basin

01:05to address the challenges of climate change.

01:13At present,

01:15the detailed engineering design

01:19that is expected to start in the first quarter of next year

01:24when the new year starts in 2025,

01:29we will start our plan

01:33to avoid flooding in the Bicol River Basin.

01:40The DPWH, DANR, and DILG were also instructed

01:44to assist local governments

01:46to make the project integrated and future-ready.

01:49The Chief Executive of the DPWH, DOTR,

01:55to use high-quality materials

01:58to ensure that the project will last long.

02:01While the DBM was instructed

02:03that the Quick Response Fund should always be ready,

02:07the assistance received by the Philippines

02:09from other countries during the floods.

02:12I would like to thank our colleagues in ASEAN

02:17for sending assistance.

02:24Just like other places,
