Blackpool striker reflects on game time this season

Blackpool forward Jake Beesley reflects on his limited minutes so far this season, and discusses if he was close to leaving the club in the summer.

00:00How good has this competition been for you in recent times in terms of putting yourself on that shot window?

00:05100 percent, that's like I said before and last season was similar.

00:09I wasn't in the team and this competition was a chance for me to get minutes

00:13and I impressed in the games I played and then managed to get back into the team.

00:18So I treat it as I would any other game and I'm looking forward to it.

00:23Has it been frustrating this year? You've not really had consistent minutes.

00:27Yes, it has been a little bit. As a footballer,

00:31everyone wants to play every game, every minute they can,

00:34but sometimes it doesn't work like that.

00:36So you have to trust in your process and do the right things

00:40and make sure you're ready for your chance.

00:43Does the new manager coming in offer that new chance for you?

00:45Because under the previous manager, he sort of hinted that you weren't part of the plan.

00:49Yes, obviously with the old gaffer,

00:53we had a conversation and I kind of knew where I was at and then things all changed again.

00:58So yeah, it was a new chance to impress and a new face

01:04and I feel like if I keep doing the right things and like I said,

01:08when the chance comes, I'm only going to put myself in a better position.

01:12Were you close to leaving at any point before that managerial change happened?

01:16I think when the conversation we had happened,

01:20it wasn't long after that the gaffer left.

01:24So it kind of never, nothing really materialised in that sort of way.

01:28So I wouldn't say so.

01:30Did that mindset instantly change?

01:32As soon as that decision was made, you think, right,

01:34this is my chance to sort of get back now?

01:37Football's always changed.

01:38So if you're not right mentally and you sort of let yourself go into a lull,

01:44then it can affect your performance.

01:46So I try to just try and stay on an even keel constantly.
