00:00Shop Bristol has officially opened its doors today.
00:04The pop-up shop in Carpet Circus specialises in Bristol-themed products made by Bristol artists.
00:11Let's step inside to find out what this shop has to offer.
00:14The idea for Bristol Shop was born from the collaboration of lots of independent shops based in Bristol
00:21and prior shop as well as Visit Bristol.
00:24So all together these artists come together in the shop for Christmas
00:29and they're showcasing the best pieces they've got
00:35and trying to show who they are to the public in this unique pop-up shop
00:43that's going to be around for the holidays.
00:45How did the idea come about?
00:49When we moved into our big store in Carpet Circus
00:53it obviously gave us the opportunity to expand and have a lot more artist work in the shop.
00:59We have a lot of tourists that visit us and a lot of visiting families for students
01:04who ask us for souvenirs and gifts to take home or things to send to family members
01:12and because of the aesthetic of our shop and we're mainly based in homewares and skincare and clothing
01:20we don't necessarily have souvenir-based gifts
01:23but there are loads of artists in Bristol that are making that kind of work.
01:28So the idea came about through that to open a new shop.
01:33We've got quite a wide variety of artists and makers from Bristol.
01:39We can start from some of the illustrators.
01:41For example, we've got Rosie Webb.
01:44She makes these really beautiful watercolours illustrations, Bristol-themed.
01:49The particularity is that she has lots of animals in them and they're really colourful and vibrant.
01:55She's really well known in Bristol.
01:57It's a beautiful present for people that love watercolour illustrations
02:01and they're really good for children as well.
02:04Then we've got Bristol Soap, which is also really well known in Bristol.
02:10Everything is handmade, palm oil free
02:13and you can see there is a wide variety from soaps to facial balms and oils
02:19and lots and lots of gift tins.
02:22What products would you recommend as a Christmas gift for those who decide to do their shopping at this shop?
02:28For Christmas, these lovely baubles from other lovely things.
02:35They are traditionally painted, hand-painted from the inside.
02:39It's a really old tradition.
02:41They're glass, they're beautifully made and they represent all different parts of Bristol.
02:46We've got Hopwells here, we've got the Suspension Bridge.
02:50We've got Clevedon Pier.
02:53They're really lovely.
02:55This Bristol shop pop-up was a beautiful idea
02:58because it's not only a shop for locals but also for tourists
03:02because it brings together handmade, unique artists from Bristol.
03:08It brings together lots of Bristol-themed handmade things
03:11and little presents that are not only for locals but also for tourists,
03:17parents of students that come to visit, anyone that comes to Bristol
03:20and wants to know a little bit about the history of Bristol
03:23and just go away with something to remember.
