00:00The three-month Galunggong Close Fishing Season in northern Palawan has started today.

00:05According to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources of BIFAR,

00:08Galunggong fishing is prohibited until January 31, 2025.

00:14This is a conservation measure to protect and increase the number of fish caught in the sea.

00:19The Galunggong Close Fishing Season has been going on for a year

00:23and we have seen good results in the past few years.

00:28According to the Philippine Statistics Authority,

00:30the number of Galunggong fish caught in the past 7,507 metric tons increased to 8,146 metric tons in 2022.
