00:00Sharon and it says something about how important this announcement is that you

00:04have the Premier and members of his team, you have the Lord Mayor of Newcastle

00:11and you had members of my team in Meryl and Sharon, Dan and Andrew Giles as the

00:18Minister for Skills and Training and of course Chris Williams, Steve Wong and the

00:23members of his team because there's nothing more important than job

00:29creation and there's nothing more important than having a plan for where

00:33the economy is going and making sure that we invest in new industries and

00:38that we invest in the capacity of workers to be able to fill jobs in those

00:44industries. Now it's just a week ago that we passed 1 million new jobs being

00:50created since my government was elected. There's nothing more important to dealing

00:55with cost of living than making sure that people have employment and that

00:59people have good wages and conditions and this project here is absolutely

01:05central to that. What will happen with this Centre of Excellence is a

01:11concentration on the renewable energy jobs of the future and making sure that

01:16we have the investment which we're receiving at places like the Liddell

01:20site but making sure that workers can fill those jobs and in particular by

01:25having the Centre of Excellence here. The people who we met who are working here

01:30as apprentices, all of them are locals. They're all from the Hunter Valley or

01:34the Central Coast and we want to make sure that those opportunities are

01:39available which is why my government have invested in Fee Free Tate. There have

01:44been over 500,000 Australians have participated in Fee Free Tate in areas

01:51of skill shortage making sure that they can go on to have good secure well-paid

01:57jobs but also making a contribution to our national economy and that's why this

02:03Centre of Excellence in manufacturing focusing on renewable energy is so

02:10important.
