00:00Hello Herald viewers, here with Peter Lorimer and Anna Faulkamai out on the humpback highway, just off Port Stephens.
00:08We've just gone through the heads and we're tailing what seems to be a female humpback, hopefully with a calf.
00:18Today we've got about a metre and a half swell, it's a little bit rough.
00:24Quite a few seasick cablets have been dropped, but if you're after the good fish you've got to go to
00:31the hard places.
00:42Well viewers, what a cracking day out on the high seas.
00:47Breach after breach, dolphins, whales, bit choppy.
00:53But I tell you what, full credit to Frank Future, the skipper of the boat.
00:56Let's come up here and let's see what he reckons about today's activities.
00:59By the way, I'm wearing a life jacket because I got absolutely drenched, up the bow, soaked, lost me Herald
01:06hat.
01:06They reversed out at sea to get it back, that's how important a Herald hat is.
01:10Follow me.
01:20Well viewers, here we go, I'm with iconic whale boat skipper, Frank Future.
01:26We're reporting that October's my favourite month because that's the month that the babies come down with their mums.
01:33And we're expecting, well, probably close to 3,000 baby whales are travelling with their mums down right now, all
01:42the way down the coast.
01:43And as we can see today, they were very active, jumping around all over the place.
01:48And their mums are encouraging that because it helps them build muscle.
01:53And they're going to need all that muscle when they hit the Southern Ocean because it's pretty flippant cold down
01:59there.
02:00And some massive seas and high winds.
02:04So they need all their strength.
02:06So yeah.
02:14You
