Carl, not your day today I guess sums it up. What are your thoughts on how the game panned
00:08
out?
00:09
Huge credit to them, I thought they played it very, very well. We had a real bright start,
00:15
really bright start. Had a great chance with a header a couple of yards out which ultimately
00:22
could have been game-changing about a stage in the obvious. But then they played it extremely
00:27
well. We were never in the game, really. We were well off it today. By quite a distance
00:32
we never really looked to threaten the top end of the pitch. Even in the second half
00:36
we had loads of possession but without having a real disparity in tempo. We were playing
00:43
relatively slow across the back line and as soon as we tried to break through any lines
00:48
it was all at the same pace. There was no real bang and change of tempo and any creativity.
00:53
So it's just one of those. I'm hoping it's an isolated incident but there was a lot within
01:01
that performance that needs a lot of polishing up on.
01:05
You'd said to me just the previous game that it was the best 45 minutes of football you'd
01:09
have from the group. So I guess it's just really frustrating and maybe sums up football,
01:14
does it?
01:16
We strive as a group to have consistencies, whether that be performances, whether that
01:22
be consistency in selecting a side. We want to have a real consistency within a group.
01:30
To have a 45 like we did last week is a good side. To then step into this weekend's game
01:36
with a performance like that, it's too big of a gulf to seem like just an isolated 90
01:44
minutes. Ultimately it falls on my toes. It's something I need to rectify, something I need
01:48
to look at. But there's no rest for the wicked because we roll straight to another game on
01:53
Tuesday.
01:54
Can we get your early thoughts on that one? You've got to be better, you know that, against
01:59
a Leeds side that are a league higher and it's a cup game and you're out of the other
02:06
couple of cups that you entered. So you'll really want to do well in this one if you
02:10
can.
02:11
It's not so much the competition we're in, it's the circumstances we want to find ourselves
02:18
in. We want consistency. You don't want to be up and down with your performances. So
02:26
regardless of it being a cup competition or a league competition, regardless of your position
02:29
really, there'll be a very strong outfit. They're a good group, well managed. It's going
02:35
to be an incredibly tough fixture. But for us, looking at us in-house, we need to get
02:42
back to, like I said, being a really consistent group with performances. That's the most important
02:49
thing for us. It's dusting down what knocks we took today to assess who we've got available
02:55
Tuesday night.
02:56
Obviously on a mission today was Lewis O'Malley in defence. Tell us about his situation.
03:01
That's a family commitment. It's been pre-planned for a long, long time. It was made aware to
03:08
us and identified in pre-season so we know about it.
03:13
So he can come back in on Tuesday?
03:14
Hopefully he's available for Tuesday. Like I said, it's now assessing the group, who
03:19
we've got fit. Like I said before, we don't run with massive squads so any nigger or not
03:27
to us, it's looked at and assessed and we'll see how we go.
03:31
Is there anyone definitely out of Tuesday at this stage?
03:34
No. Again, we won't know until the lads are inside now with Jim, the physio. We'll touch
03:40
base again tomorrow morning and then we'll know more tomorrow.
03:44
All the best of luck for Tuesday.
