00:00Some dams in Bulacan lost their water early
00:03in order to stop the widespread flooding in the province.
00:06This is the statement of Shane Frias Velasco
00:09of the Philippine Information Agency, Central Nuzon.
00:12Shane?
00:14The widespread flooding in Bulacan was stopped
00:17due to the early loss of water from the dams in the province
00:21before the Christine typhoon passed.
00:24According to Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office
00:27Edmanuel Lupan, although there is flooding in the usual low-lying areas in the province,
00:34this is a smaller part compared to the area flooded by Hurricane Karina last July.
00:41According to National Irrigation Administration or NIA Regional Manager Josephine Salazar,
00:46the Christine typhoon has not yet passed in Bulacan
00:49and the gradual loss of water in the Bustos Dam has already started
00:53in order to have the capacity to swim in the new rainfall.
00:57According to NIA, earlier this morning,
01:00614 cubic meters per second of water was released in the Bustos Dam.
01:06This is the result of the release of water from the Epo Transmission Dam
01:11which reached 113.8 cubic meters per second.
01:15The dam is still closed.
01:19Currently, the water level is 200.10 meters,
01:22which means it is still far from the 212 meters spilling level.
01:27In addition, NIA also predicted that the current water level in Buludam,
01:35which is in the town of Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan,
01:39will be higher than the 76.10 meters spilling level.
