00:00Representing a practical and effective synthesis of the history of medicine and odontology is the goal of the book
00:12History of Medicine and Odontology, curated by Michele Covelli, a professor at the University of Rome, Giuseppe De Gennaro,
00:19presented in Rome at the Nasseri Hall of the Senate of the Republic.
00:24The text has no presumption of being a substitute for the books of medicine, but it wants to be an instrumentum laboris
00:31that accompanies not only students, but also anyone who has an interest in the knowledge of the matter.
00:37The most complicated and complex part was to create a synthesis of the most important concepts
00:43and concepts that the student of medicine, and not only, can draw and catalyze his or her attention.
00:50So, from ancient Egypt, because it was the first historical people where they already had the first medical specializations,
00:57up to the present times, it is a text that can be easily opened even to non-laborers.
01:04Therefore, to be able to make it readable, the student must have a perception of knowledge
01:12and understand what were the rising periods.
01:16So, I must say that what I could perceive, also because we started just yesterday the lessons of History of Medicine,
01:23they appreciated a lot the understanding, in summary, the rising points of what was the first approach of medicine.
01:32To deal with the scientific method born in universities, the future challenges of improving the skills required in the medical profession
01:41it is essential to start from the History of Medicine.
01:44I believe that on this we continue with our goal, with the development of the degree course in Odontology and Dental Prosthesis,
01:52that we recently started, with all the activities in terms of the health professions that we are carrying out,
01:59precisely in order to think about a link between research, the world, also that of businesses and, clearly, of health institutions,
02:10and also, clearly, the ability to involve more and more in a massive way those that are activities of scientific dissemination in relation to progress.
02:20So, today's goal is a bit like this, that is, to think in a very open way what are the changes in action,
02:27also starting from History and looking to the future.
02:30To open the works, Senator Filippo Melchiorre, who has highlighted the importance of the medical profession
02:36and the attention placed by the current government towards the health professions.
02:41The government has done many things. For example, in September, it issued a decree that punishes those who commit aggression,
02:49those who damage the health and social structures. It has increased, how to say, the resources.
02:55It has thought about the integrated home assistance, it has thought about community houses, it has thought about giving more resources to the regions.
03:03The fact is that some regions often, how to say, do not have adequate organizational models
03:09and, therefore, everything that happens, unfortunately, does not depend on the central government, but depends on how the resources are used.
03:15Today, through the presentation of this text, which can be used by both aspiring doctors and doctors to, how to say,
03:23to regenerate their principles, what is concerned with the attention of doctors,
03:30we are talking about it to build up the pillars in this mosaic of the centrality of the doctor, but also, I say, of the patient, of the person.
