Gateshead have appointed former player and coach Carl Magnay as their new Manager, taking the role that had become vacant following the departure of Rob Elliot. Daniel Wales reports.

00:13It's been a whirlwind.

00:14Obviously, I left at the back end of last season.

00:18I moved down to MK in July, then moved to Carlisle in August, so I've been exposed

00:27to two different football clubs, a lot of different characters and personalities in

00:31terms of players.

00:34I think what I found here as a coach last season, as a player, was just how special

00:39this group is in terms of the mentality of the players.

00:44We know that Gateshead hasn't got great resources, so the mantra of the club is to find a way.

00:53We acknowledge that we haven't got all the riches, we use that as a positive.
