Suspects on run after Melbourne ram raid on Brunswick cycling store

A suspect has been seen fleeing a ram raid in Melbourne’s inner north with their arm on fire.

00:05bicycle shop here, right in the heart of the suburb.

00:08There's still smoke, the smell of smoke in the air, significant damage to goods following

00:12the early morning attack, road closures still in place, emergency services still on the

00:17scene after a stolen luxury car was used to ram into the garage of this bicycle shop at

00:23about three o'clock this morning.

00:25Police believe the car was used to ram the shop multiple times before a group of offenders

00:30went inside the shop, set it alight, and then were seen fleeing the scene.

00:35As you said, one of them with his arm on fire, according to witnesses at the scene.

00:41Investigations very much still at an early stage at this time.

00:44So have police found the people behind the attack?

00:47No, police say they're still yet to identify those involved.

00:52They say the car used in the attack was stolen from Melbourne's southeast almost a fortnight

00:57ago.

00:58They say at this stage it's not clear whether anything was actually stolen from the bicycle

01:02It's not certain whether that was the target itself or a gymnasium above.

01:06The fire was limited to the ground floor of the building, though two dozen firefighters

01:11here containing it and stopping it from spreading beyond the shop itself.
