00:00The Department of Migrant Workers in Philippines is ready to provide assistance to some Filipinos in Cambodia

00:06because of the surrogacy scheme.

00:09This is what the Migrant Workers Secretary, Hans Leo Kakdag, said.

00:13Especially if this case can be proven as illegal recruitment or human trafficking.

00:18The DMW will continue to consult with the Department of Foreign Affairs about this.

00:23For now, the two Filipinos are in good condition.

00:27It is also being investigated if there are other people involved in the surrogacy scheme.

00:32Surrogacy is considered illegal in Cambodia.

00:35And anyone who violates it can be jailed for 2 to 20 years.

00:41There are reports that there is a recruiter involved.

00:45If this is a matter of illegal recruitment or human trafficking,

00:50we can work closely with the DFA and the DOJ along these lines.
