00:00I've always thought John Bean said it already. Yeah, I mean,
00:04the rest of us need a mother and father, please. I know, I like, come on.
00:08The first half of the fourth season of Outer Banks just hit Netflix.
00:12Ahead of its release, the cast spoke to The Hollywood Reporter all about the new episodes.
00:16Actors Chase Stokes, Rudy Ponko, and Drew Starkey opened up about what it's been like
00:21essentially growing up with their characters over the past four seasons.
00:26It's like mirroring a version of life. You know, you see a different person who has wins and
00:32makes mistakes and you get frustrated and you laugh and cry with them. And it's fun because
00:38I do think it's so rare to have so much time invested in a character. So it's fun because
00:45you get to experience all different emotions and an outer body sort of experience with this,
00:49with this world in particular. It's like being in a relationship. You know, I think we've all
00:54learned how to fall, fall in love with it in different ways. And, you know, I mean,
00:57we had five years, it's been a five year anniversary of filming this year. It's longer
01:03than I was in college or in high school. And so like it, you know, we kept joking. It was like,
01:09this year's our senior year. You know, we're working on senior years, maybe super seniors
01:13next year. But, I don't know, I guess. Super duper. Yeah, super duper, super duper. But yeah,
01:19I mean, I look, when I look back, I mean, it all feels kind of like very much the same. But
01:24when I look back in to like 2019, when we just started, I'm like, oh my God, we were children.
01:29Yeah. There's like little kids bouncing off the walls. So yeah, it's been, it's been
01:36like the joy of my life, really. Yeah. Since the drama series debuted in 2020,
01:40the onscreen relationships have been a key part of the show. Madeline Klein and Madison Bailey
01:45revealed whether or not they think their characters' respective relationships with
01:48John B and JJ are endgame. I think, unless I've been told otherwise, I think that,
01:56I think they are. I've always thought John B and JJ are endgame. I think so. Yeah. I mean,
02:02the rest of us need a mother and father, please. I know. I like, come on. I think that these
02:08characters have so much in common and I think that they'll, you know, go the distance if they
02:18keep their friendship at the forefront. And I mean, I think that they're two people who are
02:23so independent that that's why they work together. And then like just being themselves and giving the
02:28space for the other person to be themselves is why they, they work. So as long as there's never
02:33like a holdup on that, then I think they'll be all right. Speaking of relationships, Jonathan
02:41Davis, a.k.a. JD, and Carlacia Grant weighed in on what it was like portraying Pope and Cleo's
02:46relationship in the new season. It's been amazing, honestly. Like, you know, Carlacia's been such an
02:51amazing co-star over these past couple of years and like, and more than that, like a really,
02:55really good friend. So like being able to kind of bring our, ourselves into these characters more,
03:01to explore more moments with each other. We didn't get a lot of that season three,
03:04but I feel like this season, we really got a good opportunity to explore the relationships
03:08between these characters and really like flesh it out on screen. So it didn't feel like,
03:12you know, it's, it felt like a natural evolution of where we left off in the third season. It
03:16felt like they were in a really good spot. So it was, it was a joy to be able to do that.
