00:00The Department of Health or DOH reported a rise in advanced HIV disease or AHD cases in the country

00:06during the 16th plenary meet of the Philippine National AIDS Council. Nearly 41,000 cases have

00:13been recorded in August. This late detection poses serious health risks contributing to

00:18over 8,000 HIV-related deaths since 1984. Most deaths occur among men aged 25 to 34

00:27and 464 deaths were recorded in the first eight months of the year. Health Secretary Teodoro

00:34Herbosa emphasized the importance of early testing and consistent treatment to prevent

00:38severe disease and improve health outcomes. He also urged parents to talk to their children about

00:43HIV risks.
