00:00Stephen Colbert Makes a Bold Political Statement Ahead of Upcoming Election
00:05The talk show host didn't mince words when addressing his stance.
00:08Stephen Colbert is issuing a bold political message ahead of the upcoming election and he's not shying away
00:14from declaring where his loyalties lie this campaign season.
00:18In a video clip from one of the talk show host's late-night segments, he introduced his guest,
00:23current vice president and 2024 presidential nominee Kamala Harris, with a comical monologue.
00:29Good evening, it has been a tradition here at the Late Show since yesterday that the major party candidates
00:36sit down with me for an interview in October.
00:39Colbert opened as he sat on a stool with a 60 Minutes-inspired stopwatch depicted behind him.
00:44We invited Kamala Harris to be our guest this evening and she accepted that interview in a moment.
00:51The host continued quipping,
00:53In the interest of fairness, we also invited former President Donald Trump to go f**k himself.
00:59He declined our offer as the studio audience erupted into laughter and applause.
01:04The snippet was shared via ex-formerly Twitter on Oct. 8.
01:08Alongside the caption, Stephen Colbert's opening of tonight's interview with Kamala Harris is
01:14going to get Donald Trump to lose his d**n mind.
01:17Holy hell.
01:18Social media users flew into the comments section with reactions to the clip which
01:23amassed over 3.5 million views in just a day since Colbert's bold political move.
01:29The full clip is even funnier, one stated, referring to the initial news segment the spoof was modeled after,
01:35in which CBS announced that Trump had abruptly canceled his scheduled 60 Minutes sit-down.
01:41Could not appreciate it and respect Stephen Colbert more, another admitted, as a third simply added,
01:47Well said, Stephen Colbert well said.
01:49Colbert never fails to deliver the goods, someone else chimed in.
01:53While an additional commenter attempted to theorize what Trump's reaction would be, joking,
01:58Tomorrow morning I hate Stephen Colbert, another ex-user insisted the video was Emmy material.
02:04On the other hand, some weren't as amused, like one person, who called Colbert a failed comedian.
02:10And another who declared, nobody watches that show lol.
02:14The general election takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024.
