00:05had a side trip in its itinerary to meet with POTUS Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris to make

00:12his case for winning the war.

00:14But then his earlier trip to a Pennsylvania arms factory with state governor in tow drew

00:20harsh criticism from the Grand Old Party of EOP, which called it a partisan, as VOA's

00:32Russian strikes on Ukraine continued this week in the city of Kramatorsk in the Donetsk

00:37region Wednesday, a reminder of the war as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met

00:42with U.S. President Joe Biden at the White House Thursday.

00:45Let me be clear.

00:47Russia will not prevail in war.

00:51Russia will not prevail.

00:52Ukraine will prevail and will continue to stand by you every step of the way.

00:56As part of his plan for victory, Zelensky is pushing Biden to allow Ukraine to use American

01:01weapons to strike targets deeper inside Russia.

01:04I raised with President Biden the plan of victory.

01:08Today we are preparing to discard the details to strengthen the plan, coordinate our positions,

01:13use and approach.

01:15The White House says no announcement is imminent.

01:18Zelensky's visit was marked by Republicans angry about his visit Sunday to an ammunition

01:23factory in Pennsylvania, a battleground state in the November U.S. presidential election.

01:28Republicans alleged the visit was, quote, a campaign event designed to help Democrats.

01:33And they called for the firing of Ukrainian ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova.

01:38We're in the middle of a hotly contested national election, and we don't need foreign countries

01:43intervening and letting their opinions be heard at a time like this.

01:47Zelensky held a separate meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential

01:51nominee.

01:53She underscored that it's up to Ukraine to decide how the war will end, and criticized

01:57Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance, whose proposal to end the war would

02:02mean Ukraine has less territory and will not join NATO.

02:06These proposals are the same of those of Putin.

02:11And let us be clear, they are not proposals for peace.

02:17Instead, they are proposals for surrender, which is dangerous and unacceptable.

02:24On Friday, Zelensky is set to meet with Republican presidential nominee, former President Donald

02:29Trump, who has in recent days increased his criticism of the Ukrainian leader and the

02:34Biden administration, blaming them for prolonging the war that followed Russia's invasion of

02:39Ukraine in February 2022.

02:42A deal could have been made if we had a competent president instead of a president that egged

02:47it all on.

02:51And Biden and Kamala allowed this to happen by feeding Zelensky money and munitions like

03:00no country has ever seen.

03:02Trump's comments have created anxiety not only in Ukraine, but also in some European

03:07capitals that have been supporting Kiev's war efforts.

03:10To turn that around and suddenly give Moscow a great deal more leverage by calling into

03:15question the flow of arms to Ukraine, political support for Ukraine, etc., is handing a victory

03:22to Moscow.

03:25Ahead of Zelensky's visit, the U.S. announced $8 billion in new aid for Ukraine, including

03:30a Patriot air defense battery and other weapons.
