00:00We'll talk a little about those Las Vegas Raiders.
00:08They are on the road in Denver, catching anywhere between two and a half to three points.
00:13This is a red hot Denver Broncos team.
00:16Kind of lost in the sauce here is that Sean Payton has these boys rolling.
00:19They go to Tampa Bay, a playoff team last year.
00:22They win that football game.
00:23They go to New York.
00:24Yeah, it's all kinds of aspirations.
00:27They win that game as well.
00:29How much credit do you give Sean Payton?
00:31That's all in the eye of the beholder.
00:33This is a team that's winning on defense right now.
00:35Bo Nix and his yards per pass attempt is mind boggling, especially as somebody who has his
00:40season long passing total over.
00:42This kid's about to throw for 600 pass attempts and go under 3,000 passing yards.
00:47We'll let that marinate for you while we try and figure out what to do with this game here
00:52today.
00:53Lacey, I imagine you love Vegas.
00:54I do.
00:55I do.
00:56They've dominated them, haven't they?
00:57They won the eight straight, or is it eight straight in Denver, I believe, or something,
01:01some crazy stat.
01:02Doesn't matter.
01:03They have dominated.
01:04Here's the thing.
01:05Two games in regards to Bo Nix.
01:06He's played well, progressing, getting more comfortable with the scheme, not producing
01:10obviously last week, but leading his team to victories.
01:13They're running the football a little bit more conservative now after the first couple
01:17games and they're relying on defense.
01:19You got a veteran quarterback in Gardner Minshew.
01:22Game was ugly against Cleveland.
01:23They grinded out 20 to 16.
01:26Find a way to win that ball game when everybody thought Cleveland was the right side.
01:30They go on the road.
01:31I still like this Vegas Raiders defense and I don't like the fact that Bo Nix isn't putting
01:37up 200, 250.
01:39I think it's another lower scoring game, but I'm willing to take the shot with the veteran
01:43on the road and this team seems to be dialed in.
01:46They haven't quit with the Devontae Adams situation.
01:49That was a perfect opportunity to just lay down and they didn't at home.
01:54I think they give it a best shot.
01:56I think they win.
01:57But I don't know if you can staple it on like the Raiders defense at this point because
02:00you know Max Crosby banged up.
02:02I don't know if how much have Joe left in the tank, but also we're talking about defenses
02:05like Denver.
02:06Look at that Pittsburgh game.
02:0713 points they gave up.
02:08Then they give up seven to the Buccaneers and they give up nine to the New York Jets.
02:11That's been absolutely wonderful and I think that's going to be their calling card and
02:14if you are Peyton, there's a crossroads that you have to get to because Joe, we talk about
02:17like the Pittsburgh Steelers.
02:19Like understandably, yes, you want to have a winning record and you want to play really
02:22good defense, but it's not really to your bonus benefit to say, hey, Justin Fields,
02:26let's score about maybe 17 to 20 a game.
02:28Just don't turn the football over.
02:29You got to let these guys go, which is why we bring up Bo Nix.
02:32Like, yes, you want to win football games with a young quarterback, but also the same
02:35time you want your own quarterback thrown for like 89 yards a game, maybe a touchdown
02:39pass and just say, hey, we're winning games.
02:41That's great.
02:42Like no, sooner or later, you have to open it up and I think they have a chance to do
02:44that against the Raiders.
02:46But also the coach in me speak goes, well, why would I open it up?
02:50Like my defense has been phenomenal.
02:51If we get to 17, we can win this game with a rookie quarterback.
02:54I just want to say that's what Sean Payton did with Russell Wilson last year, right?
02:59When they fell behind and they were two and five overall and they gave up 70 points with
03:02Denver, that season was reeling, right?
03:05And he saved it by going conservative, trying to shorten games, run the football because
03:09he knew his quarterback wasn't the right guy, right?
03:12He did that in the first couple of games, opening it up and Bo Nix made mistakes, right?
03:17Interceptions.
03:18And I believe Sean Payton said, you know what?
03:19That's not what I signed up for.
03:21I have to go.
03:22I signed up to try and compete.
03:24I'm not, I don't want to do a major rebuild and that's why I still, that's why I favor
03:28Las Vegas because they're trying to play not to lose and you can't do that.
03:34You have to develop Bo Nix, but Payton doesn't want to do that ultimately because he's not
03:38the coach for the job.
03:39I don't think that's true at all.
03:41I don't even know how we get to that.
03:43It just doesn't make any damn sense.
03:45He's on pace to throw for 587 pass attempts.
03:53That would have been top five in football last year and you're telling me they're being
03:57conservative.
03:58No, no.
03:59I'm saying that Sean Payton didn't sign up for a major rebuild.
04:05And now you're upset he's winning football games.
04:07Remember last year when they were losing every game and then he fixed it and they started
04:10winning games?
04:11They were winning games ugly.
04:12It's just crazy.
04:13They're winning games ugly.
04:15They're not.
04:16They're not throwing 50 times a game with Bo Nix.
04:19They're not.
04:20They're not opening up the offense the way they're doing with Jaden Daniels.
04:22Are they?
04:23Are they?
04:24Joe?
04:25I just, he's thrown the ball more times than Jaden Daniels.
04:29In the first couple of games.
04:30Lacey, it was 42, 35, 36 and then he threw it 25 times in the rain against the Jets.
04:36All right.
04:37All right.
04:38Okay.
04:39I'm sorry that the numbers get in the way of you.
04:41You want him to throw the ball 80 times a game?
04:43What did you say?
04:44I said, I'm on pace to throw the ball 600 times.
04:47He had 12 completions for 60 yards.
04:50His leading wide receiver had 60 yards on three catches.
04:53Yes, he was.
04:54Every throw was short to intermediate.
04:56The game plan has changed.
04:57In the beginning he was opening up, taking deeper shots.
05:00It's more short to intermediate throws and they're trying to be conservative, working
05:05the field and sustaining drives as opposed to getting into shootouts.
05:09That's the difference.
05:10You could still throw it 30 times, but if you're throwing five yard hitches as opposed
05:14to a 20 yard big route, there's a big difference.
05:18That's the way I see it.
05:19I don't know.
