New Crawley Town manager Rob Elliot lost his first game in charge 1-0 at Wycombe Wanderers. Here are midfielder Ronan Darcy's thoughts on the game

00:00Ronan, thank you for joining us. Obviously a difficult result here at Wickham today, but can I get your overall assessment on the game first?

00:06It's a difficult place to come to as well. I think there's a lot of positives to take.

00:15Obviously we didn't score again, which has become a habit now and we need to get out of it.

00:23I think we had a game plan, which was new to us.

00:28Obviously to the lads, Gaff has only been in a few days and a lot of information was taken on board.

00:33I think we went out there and done very well at times.

00:39There's some bad bits, but there's always going to be bad bits.

00:43I think we were all so new to the information that was passed on and things like that.

00:51I think we were all a bit cautious of whether we were doing it right or wrong and it kind of crept up on us a little.

00:56I think we need to quickly take on the information, as easy as that may sound, and go from there.

01:06Again, there's positives to take. It's just very frustrating that we've come away with zero points again.

01:13But there's always work to improve on.

01:18We all know that football is a confidence game.

01:20There seemed to be a spell in the first half where we were pinging the ball around really nicely.

01:24Unfortunately, it was after we'd already got a goal down.

01:27I think if that Harry Forster chance goes in, it could potentially be a different game.

01:30Is it a case, do you think, of once it clicks, it will just eventually click?

01:34As you say, it's been frustrating for a couple of weeks, hasn't it?

01:37Yes, I think you're right.

01:39Once we start getting the goals in, we'll be more than fine.

01:44It's just getting to that point now.

01:47Yes, it's a difficult period we're going through.

01:50But as long as we stick together, we know we're more than capable to achieve our goals this season.

01:56You mentioned we're in the start of a new era with, obviously, Robert the Helm.

01:59It's obviously very different for yourself, especially as one of the lads that was here last season.

02:04It's a tad different.

02:05How has it been in the first couple of days and how do you see it going forward as well?

02:09It'll be very good.

02:13Like I said, there was a lot of information that we had to take on board in the last few days.

02:17I'm sorry if I talk that quite literal.

02:20But, you know, we're only humans.

02:22We're all going to make mistakes.

02:25I'm not saying we did, but it was just a lot of things to take on board.

02:30It'll be very positive.

02:32There's a few tweaks that we need to make and areas we need to improve.

02:36Hopefully, we can do that as quickly as possible.

02:39I think the few chances we had today, we were this close to going in the back of the net again.

02:44Focus on Tuesday and then focus on Saturday next week, back in the league.

02:49Ultimately, it's going to be a new project, isn't it?

02:52Although it's well-reported that Rob and Scott have played similar football,

02:55as you say, there are going to be changes to make.

02:57I suppose the message to the fans is, bear with us because it is still early days in the season.

03:02It's going to take a lot of getting used to, but we will get there, won't we?

03:07Obviously, the fans are going to get frustrated as much as we are,

03:10because they want to see us win.

03:12They want to see goals, they want to see nice football.

03:16It sounds crazy, but we are literally this close from being an unbelievable side.

03:24It's just that final bit.

03:26Once we've got that, I think we'll be okay.

03:31Ro, there's been a lot of changes in the summer and now changes with the manager.

03:38How difficult is that as a player, or is that just football?

03:41It can be difficult.

03:43Obviously, you're used to a system and certain ways of playing and things like that,

03:51and day-to-day sessions and stuff.

03:55Obviously, like I said previously, there's a lot of information to take on board when the new management comes in.

04:02But it's only little tweaks, so we should take it on board quite quickly.

04:07I think we will.

04:09I think it's only been two days, if that.

04:11We've had a lot of meetings and things like that, so I think we'll be okay.

04:15Obviously, a lot of squad changes in the summer.

04:17How impressed have you been with the players that have come in and how quickly they've settled as well?

04:22I think we've played better football than a lot of games last season already,

04:29which is a massive improvement.

04:31I think, again, we're this close from being an unbelievable team.

04:35We just need to get that final bit sorted and we'll be very good.

04:39How pleased are you with your form this season?

04:41Obviously, I'm playing and that's the main thing.

04:46I've been happy with how I've played.

04:49There's a lot more to me I can bring and I think there's a lot as a team we can bring together to do more.
