00:00 "Damn, thank you for joining us. Obviously it's a disappointing afternoon here at the
00:10 Portfield Stadium. Can I just get your thoughts on the game first?"
00:13 "Yeah, obviously disappointing to lose like always. I felt we probably put in a good performance
00:18 overall, looking at the game. But obviously, yeah, you've got to get three points at the
00:23 end of the day and we didn't manage to come away with that today and everyone's a bit
00:27 disappointed in that."
00:28 "The gaffer just touched the net really. We had a lot of possession, we had a lot of the
00:31 ball. We just seemed to lack that killer instinct in the final third. But in terms of you playing
00:37 up front, it must have been really frustrating and I suppose credit has to go to the Wrexham
00:40 team who by the end were putting all ten men behind the ball, weren't they?"
00:43 "Yeah, they went down to ten men. Once you get a 1-0 lead here, you're naturally going
00:48 to sit in because they know how good we are at home. We had chances in the first half,
00:53 myself included. On another day they go in, goals, different result, going into half-time.
00:59 That was just disappointing on the whole. But I guess we'll keep going with the performance
01:03 and keep playing the way we're playing because we know we're going to win more than we lose."
01:06 "Yeah, I suppose it's easy to keep the morale high knowing that it's not necessarily the
01:11 performances that are letting us down. The work rate's there, the performance is there.
01:14 Sometimes it is just the way it breaks for each side. So I suppose the lads going into
01:20 the rest of October are still going to be pretty confident, aren't they?"
01:22 "Yeah, I think obviously today it hurts and probably tomorrow it's going to hurt. But
01:26 Monday's a new week. We know the way we play. It's an enjoyable way to play. Everyone enjoys
01:31 playing it. They go for the stop and a lot of hard work during the week. So you don't
01:35 come away with three points at the weekend after a good performance. You're obviously
01:38 down about it. But again, we'll look to the next one and work hard for the next week."
01:43 "I suppose it's a testament to us that we're disappointed with a 1-0 defeat aside that
01:48 a lot of people have said they should walk away with the league this year. It shows how
01:52 far we've come over the course of this season, especially from last season, that the result
01:56 of this hurts so much."
01:57 "Yeah, definitely. I think we've had a good start. I don't think I've said it before,
02:01 it's just a start and we want to keep it going. It's the 12th game today I think, so still
02:06 early days. But to put in a performance like that against a team which was obviously tipped
02:10 for promotion and we were tipped for relegation and we're still at the top end of the table.
02:14 Yeah, it's a credit to the club as a whole but we want to win games at the end of the
02:19 day. So we'll keep that handle of performances and hopefully the next one's a win."
02:23 "Scott was just saying about Rexham using a bit of the dark arts to see that game out
02:30 and really stuck men behind the ball after getting that open goal which was obviously
02:34 a pity for nothing. Do you think that was difficult to break down the way Rexham are
02:37 playing today?"
02:39 "Yes and no. I think at times obviously we had a lot of the ball, broke them down a few
02:44 times, created a few chances. But again, when you're one nil away from home, we'll do it
02:49 when we go away from home as well. Dark arts is part of football and even more so in League
02:53 Two. So it wasn't anything we probably didn't expect or haven't come across in the past
02:58 and credit to them, they've done it extremely well towards the end as you can see."
03:03 "How much of a miss was Liam Kelly today? Obviously not being able to play because of
03:07 that head injury, was that a problem for Crawley?"
03:09 "Yes and no. Obviously Liam's one of the better players here. Class, he keeps us ticking over,
03:17 does really well on the ball. But again, I thought Aaron came in today, he was really
03:21 good. You can see the quality he's got in training and he probably hasn't had a chance
03:26 this year because of how well Liam's done. So yeah, obviously Liam was a miss but I thought
03:32 Aaron did really well today."
03:35 "Was it frustrating with the amount of shots you had, the amount of possession you had,
03:38 that you couldn't quite turn that into a goal? But does it give you confidence that you're
03:41 able to improve on that because you're creating the chances and having the possession?"
03:45 "Yes, obviously you want to put the ball across the line at the end of the day. But no, we
03:50 created chances, we kept the ball, we recycled the ball, went side to side. I think you could
03:54 see how tiring they found it and by the end of it they were just literally sitting in
03:58 just thinking 'don't concede'. I think we all had the belief, because we've seen it
04:02 a few times this season, where we're going to get one, we're going to get one. Today
04:06 it didn't seem to come but obviously the past few weeks it has. So we'll wipe our mouths
04:11 and we'll go again."
04:12 "Obviously you lost your captain quite early on to injury, was that a bit of a blow as
04:17 well? But obviously Clyde Lloris came on and performed really well. How did you see that?"
04:22 "Yes, obviously Skip, unbelievable player, unbelievable career. I think you saw the boost
04:27 he gave us when he came back. I think it was a stop ball game. Just his presence on the
04:32 pitch alone, he's massive even before he even touches the ball. So yes, obviously it was
04:36 a loss but Clyde, we've seen how well he's done this year, coming off the bench, chipped
04:40 him a few goals as well. So I thought he came on and done really well as well."
04:44 "Dan, there's a two-week break from the league now until you play against Crewe in
04:50 a couple of weeks but then there's two cup games in between. Is that good prep to get
04:54 the league form back on track now after back-to-back losses?"
04:58 "Yes, I think so. I think obviously having a break from the league in one hand is good
05:02 but for me personally I want the next league game tomorrow if possible. Yes, we'll use
05:08 the two weeks, we'll work hard on the training ground I'm sure. The way Gaffer is, he won't
05:12 stop and keep drumming it into us, keep making us better. So yes, I guess we could work on
05:16 a few things in the next couple of weeks but at the same time we've got two cup games to
05:20 take seriously as well and obviously we want to get results in both of them."
05:23 "In the last three home games, Crewe have scored at least three goals or more in these
05:28 fixtures and obviously coming today, haven't got any goals at home, obviously very frustrating
05:33 in your position. Is that something that probably just fuels you for the next game as a striker
05:38 to really sort of, you know, a couple of games without goals does that really fuel you to
05:42 get some?"
05:43 "Yes, I think you're lucky. You know you're not going to score every game. Before today
05:46 I had two and two so I was on a bit of a hot streak shall we say. In my head I was confident
05:51 and into it. As you are as a striker when you score, I'm pretty sure you can ask any
05:55 striker in the league or any league. Obviously today it's come away without scoring personally
06:00 but more so as a team. It's obviously disappointing but it happens in football I guess. So we'll
06:06 move on to the next one."
06:07 "Cheers Dan, thank you."
06:08 "Nice. Dan, thanks for joining us."
