00:19Malacca Public Works Department Director Mohamed Salzeli Mokhtar said the sinkhole, which measures

00:253.5 metres long and 1.7 metres deep, was caused by a damaged culvert nearby and not

00:31by ground subsidence.

00:33He explained that the culvert failure occurred due to the over 40-year-old federal road being

00:39used by vehicles with excessive loads.

00:55He added that they would urgently request funding from JKR headquarters to facilitate

01:17permanent repair work, assuring that steps are being taken to address the situation effectively.

01:23It was reported that two motorcyclists sustained minor injuries when they swerved their vehicles

01:27to avoid the sinkhole and hit the roadside rail.
