00:00Nearly five months after a sinkhole appeared, the Jalan Masjid India stretch in Kuala Lumpur

00:07reopened to the public.

00:09Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Sri Maimunah Mohamad Sharif and other government officials visited

00:14the site on Tuesday.

00:15She said the repair work on the street was completed two months ahead of the scheduled

00:19target of February, to accommodate the needs of the public and business operators in the

00:24area during the festive season.

00:26She said City Hall had conducted four deep boring tests in the vicinity to determine

00:31the soil profile, and they had also repaired the walkways in the sinkhole area and upgraded

00:36the drainage system.

00:38She said Inderwater Consortium had fixed the broken sewage channels, while utility and

00:43telecommunications companies had repaired their assets.

00:47Authorities are studying the final report on the sinkhole incident prepared by a special

00:51task force comprising various agencies.

00:54The final report will be tabled to the Cabinet for approval early next year, before being

00:59released to the public.

01:01During an incident on August 23rd, a 48-year-old Indian national fell into the 8-metre deep

01:06sinkhole along Jalan Masjid India during her holiday in Malaysia.

01:11She could not be located after nine days of search and rescue operations.
