00:00If you're from the South, you have definitely had a seven layer salad, but have you ever made one?

00:04It's so easy and impressive! First things first, the dressing. So you know how in like some old

00:10fashion recipes, they would just say one cup of salad dressing? Well back then, some mayonnaises

00:16were called salad dressings. So in order to get our mayonnaise to taste like the old fashioned

00:22salad dressings, we are going to mix together some apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, some salt,

00:29some honey, and that's it. That is our salad dressing. Next up, we have some black eyed peas,

00:35some cayenne pepper, and some smoked paprika. If you're not using smoked paprika, what are you

00:40even doing? It just adds so much more flavor. So we're tossing all this together just to give our

00:45peas a little bit of a kick. Let's get to business on layering up this seven layer salad. Iceberg

00:53lettuce because we are going old school. Sliced up red onion, some cheddar cheese. Next up, my personal

01:02favorite ingredient, bacon because obviously. That black eyed pea mixture, some grape tomatoes that

01:08I have cut in half. Technically, these were supposed to go earlier in the recipe. Some hard

01:13boiled eggs that I have cut in wedges. Honestly, I'm kind of not mad about the way that I messed

01:18up the order because I'm about to put the dressing right on top and I don't want like a dry egg. I

01:25want one that is coated and dressed and delicious. Then parmesan cheese and because you know we have

01:30to garnish it some fresh scallions. So delicious, so nostalgic. This, I'm calling it, should be the

01:37salad of the summer and it's been a staple in the south for so long for a good reason. You're gonna

01:42need to enlist your large tongs. We've got to go down in there to get all of the seven layer

01:50goodness. My mouth is watering just thinking about it and talking about it.
