00:46to make a delicious suman called Kampil.

00:56Neighbors are making Kampil in this compound.

00:59This is where 75-year-old Pe,

01:02also known as Ka-Pepo,

01:04and her mother, Crisanta,

01:07brought Kampil to Antipolo from Intari, Rizal.

01:10I was only 13 years old.

01:14In 1973, we moved to Antipolo.

01:19I was just helping my mother

01:22because at that time, my father was just dying.

01:25That's how we survived making Kampil.

01:29That's what we've been looking for.

01:32The Kampil are made by people who live in their area.

01:36They're the ones who cut and roll the leaves

01:39from the province of Quezon.

01:41Each piece of leaf contains two pieces.

01:46If it's big, it can contain up to three pieces.

01:51Each person has their own big piece that they can make.

01:55The big pieces of leaves need to be cut and rolled

01:58in one day so that it won't rot.
